Ceramic braces are often described as traditional braces, but with brackets made of a clear ceramic compound, rather than metal. This is why they are sometimes called “clear brackets”. In fact, some ceramic braces use tooth-colored wires, to reinforce the illusion further.
However, ceramic braces have a number of important structural differences to consider. Ceramic brackets are larger than those of traditional metal braces, which makes brushing gums more difficult, and can increase the likelihood of gum swelling as a result.
